St. Peter’s recent front improvements have a beautiful connection to our past. The Julia A. Humiston Trust generously contributed 10% of the project’s construction costs, continuing the legacy of longtime St. Peter’s parishioner Julia Humiston, whose philanthropy more than a century ago was devoted to the “general public good” and beautifying Cheshire’s town center. Julia is buried in St. Peter’s Cemetery, making this gift an especially meaningful link between our parish’s history and its future.

Our newly completed front plaza and landscaping are giving our historic church a fresh, welcoming presence on Main Street — while staying true to its simple character and charm. From native plantings and a new sitting wall to thoughtful improvements that make our front entrance more inviting, the transformation is about more than appearances. For 20 years, the arrival of pumpkins on St. Peter’s lawn has signaled the start of fall in Cheshire. But our beloved Community Pumpkin Patch is about much more than pumpkins. What began with just 300 pumpkins in 2007 has grown into a tradition that brings parishioners and neighbors together, supports community partners and local charities, and gives us a joyful way to live out our call to love our neighbors.

In the summer of 2024, St. Peter’s began a new chapter as the Rev. Maureen “Mo” Lederman stepped into the role of Priest-in-Charge. Already familiar to our parish as a guest celebrant, Rev. Mo brought energy, humor, warmth, and a deep belief in the importance of supportive Christian community.
