Compline

The Brothers of the Society of St. John the Evangelist invite you to join them for their nightly Compline – the ancient monastic service of bedtime prayers.
Link to website for audio of service.

As you prepare for Compline, consider lighting a candle. To follow the service, use the Book of Common Prayer (pages 127-135) or link to the complete Order for Compline.

What is Compline?
Compline is the final church service of the day in the Christian tradition of canonical hours. Compline is the completion of the working day. Compline is contemplative, emphasizing spiritual peace. Many monasteries begin the “Great Silence” after Compline, when the whole community, including guests, observes silence throughout the night until the morning service the next day.
