Practical FAQS
Attending Worship Services at Saint Peters
What times are your Sunday worship services?
We have worship services at 8:15 AM and a 10:30 AM from September through June.
In July and August, we have worship services at 8:15 AM and 9:30 AM on Sundays. The 9:30 AM "Family" Service is geared to families, with nursery care at 9:30 AM. All these worship services are Eucharist services and include Holy Communion. All are welcome at either service.
Throughout the year including all summer, we also have a Eucharist (Communion) service on Thursdays at 10:00 AM.
How long are the services?
Services are about one hour in length.
What should I wear?
You may dress casually or formally, whichever makes you most comfortable. You will see our current parishioners dress casually, formally, or in-between.
Can I sit anywhere?
Yes. There is no special seating. Occasionally, when we have baptisms, the pews near the baptismal font are set aside for the families of the newly baptized.
Do you have a wheelchair or handicapped area?
There is a section on the front right (facing the altar) with a pew removed so that a wheelchair may fit. An usher can help you find this area. Also, please talk to an usher if you need any other kind of help moving or finding a place to sit that is comfortable for you.
I am hard of hearing. Do your ministers use microphones during the service?
Yes, our priests and deacons, as well as lay people who read lessons and prayers, use microphones. Also, see one of our ushers if you would like to use one of our personal amplifiers during the worship service. Many members of the congregation find these a significant help for hearing the service.
Who may receive Communion?
All adults and children attending either worship service are welcome to receive communion: the wafer, or the wine, or both.
What is the best service for children to attend?
Children are welcome at either the 8:15 AM or 10:30 AM Sunday worship service (9:30 instead of 10:30 in July and August). We recommend the second service because it has both a children's chapel during the school year and nursery care year round.
Is there a Sunday School?
Saint Peter’s offers nursery care and church school at 9:30 AM during the school year for all ages through high school. See Children and Youth. In addition, there is a Sunday Forum for adults and older youth. Find our forums, gatherings, and musical offerings in Events.
Is there a coffee hour or another social gathering on Sundays?
Yes, there is coffee hour and we serve light breakfast fare, held between the 8:15 AM and 10:30 AM services, during the Sunday Forum. In July and August, we serve lemonade on the lawn.
