What is Workshop Rotation?

The Workshop Rotation model provides creative workshop environments for children in grades 1-6.  Children learn the bible stories and lessons utilizing different learning styles. Workshop Rotation has been a very successful model because it appeals to the variety of interests and learning modes of children. The model has a 4-year cycle with each year having a distinct central theme. Each month, the children learn a story or aspect of our faith that relates to the central theme of the year. The lessons are taught utilizing different workshops which may include activities such as cooking, drama, storytelling, art, movies, science, games and computer lab.  The children experience the story in a new and different way each Sunday during the monthly unit; reinforcing the lesson. Classes meet downstairs in our classrooms located below the parish hall. The lessons are further reinforced in the Family Gathering service which occurs during the 4-week rotation cycle. This is an opportunity for families and their children of all ages to gather together for an informal service with Rev. Sandy, share a song and come to the table of our Lord. This service is held the 4th Sunday of every month September through June, except for December.  Families gather at 9:15 am in the sanctuary. In addition, the children also have opportunities to gather together for stewardship projects, our Christmas play as well as Intergenerational events for the whole family and parish.
